Stephen K. Johnson, M.D., Ph.D. grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, before moving to North Carolina to complete college and graduate school. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and his doctorate in clinical psychology from The University of North Carolina, Greensboro. He and his wife, Lori, moved to Louisville to complete their training in psychology. He completed his child psychology internship and post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology at Norton Children’s Hospital and worked as a child psychologist for several years. In order to better address the physical, developmental and emotional needs of children, Dr. Johnson returned to school and earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville, completing his pediatric residency at Norton Children’s Hospital. He joined Norton Children’s Medical Associates- Springhurst in 2014. Dr. Johnson is the state’s only dually licensed pediatrician and child psychologist and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the Kentucky chapter of the AAP, and the Kentucky Psychological Association (KPA). Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his wife, sons, daughter and mini golden-doodles. In his spare time, he coaches his kids’ soccer and swim teams, watches college soccer, basketball and football, and attempts to play the occasional round of golf.
