Mary E. Gordinier, M.D., earned her medical degree from the UofL School of Medicine and completed her residency at the Women & Infants Hospital at Brown University in Providence, R.I. Dr. Gordinier completed fellowships in women’s oncology at Brown University in and gynecologic oncology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Gordinier has over 25 years of experience in clinical research, has authored more than 30 scientific publications and served as a primary investigator in numerous national cooperative group trials. She believes that well-designed clinical trials are essential to driving meaningful advances in cancer care. She credits her fellowship experiences and mentors for teaching her an open-minded and compassionate care philosophy that continues to inform her practice today. She strongly believes that communication, truly understanding a patient’s perspective and never losing sight of the patient’s quality of life are essential components of excellent care. Outside of work, Dr. Gordinier has a passion for scuba diving and travel. Every year, she takes an “adventure vacation” to explore a part of the world she hasn’t yet visited. She finds that kind people are everywhere and deeply enjoys learning about new cultures and perspectives.
